Support Our Mission

The College of Wooster is a community of independent minds, working together to prepare students to become leaders of character and influence in an interdependent global community.

We engage motivated students in a rigorous and dynamic liberal education. Mentored by a faculty nationally recognized for excellence in teaching, Wooster graduates are creative and independent thinkers with exceptional abilities to ask important questions, research complex issues, solve problems, and communicate new knowledge and insight.

Your gift allows the College is used according to your instruction to provide extraordinary opportunities for learning and discovery; extend the financial aid program to help students; and help meet emerging priorities and new challenges.

Benefits of Giving

In addition to supporting the mission of Wooster, a planned gift can provide to you substantial tax advantages, especially on gifts of stocks and real estate. The total income, estate, and capital gains tax savings and the probate expense savings can come close to the amount transferred. The benefits includes:

  • Income Tax Deductions
  • Reduced Capital Gains Taxes
  • Reduced Estate Tax
  • Income for Life

Simply by taking advantage of incentives the IRS provides, you and your advisor can craft a gift that fits your needs, as well as the needs of Wooster. A planned gift makes it possible for you, your loved ones, and Wooster to all benefit.

We want to be sure that we can fulfill your wishes. If you have any questions, please contact:

1866 Society

Following traditions established in the founding of the College, the 1866 Society recognizes those alumni, parents, and friends who have demonstrated their commitment to Wooster’s future by naming the College as the beneficiary of irrevocable or revocable planned gifts, including life-income gifts and bequests.

Your gift supports our shared mission of educating leaders of character and influence.
